We went to Shelter Gardens, a botanical garden in the middle of Columbia. Plus, it’s free and open to the public. In the summer, they even hold free concerts. My nephews enjoy picnics there when they’re in town, so we thought Dolly might like it, too.
A 1800’s replica one-room schoolhouse stands in the middle of the gardens.
The girls played school and worked on their multiplication tables. When they started giggling and passing notes, it was time to leave. Um… Dolly…. You seem to be missing something. Where is your shoe?!?!
We had a fun time scouring the gardens for her lost shoe. APPARENTLY she got it into her head that she is a Cinderella Dolly. Lesson learned. No fairy tales before bed. It gives her silly ideas.
Esmé’s favorite part is the lions. She always pretends she’s one of them and tries to act fierce. **shakes head** Silly puppy.
Dolly liked the lions, too. Esmé had a long girl-to-girl talk with her about how we do NOT climb on things or they might kick us out.
Dolly didn’t listen very well. **sigh** I swear! You can’t turn your head for two seconds without her getting into something. Back to the schoolhouse for us….
It was 95° and hot, hot, HOT! Dolly wandered off (again)…. Where did that doll go now…? DOLLY, WE DO NOT JUMP IN BIRD BATHS! They are for BIRDS. **pop** Two more grey hairs. **deep breath**
DOLLY! WE TALKED ABOUT THIS! GET OFF THE ROCKS! **bangs head**
I think I need TWO Dr. Peppers….

Can't take your eyes of that girl! Fun adventures. That looks like a very nice park.
LOL! She has a history of climbing fences, but the birdbath diving is a new one. Of course, ours was frozen when she visited us. : )
Dolly-rella? lol Poor Chriss! You do have your hands full!
I see Dolly is having a splendid time as usual! Beautiful park too!
