Non-Library Summer Reading Programs

My library system is very lucky.  We have one of the largest library buildings in the state... even though we are a couple hours away from any major city.  We have a lot of community support... which also translates into thousands of patrons coming through the door every day.

BUT not all communities are so lucky.  Libraries have been closing their doors across the nation... which means it is less likely for children to read during the summer.  No reading=kids back sliding as much as 3 months in their reading skills every summer.

Thankfully, a few businesses are trying to pick up the slack....

And as always, if your child is 0-4 yrs, check out the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to see if she's eligible to receive 1 free book per month.

I'm silly, and I like to randomly break out into song and dance. That's all you need to know. **grin**
